Amen, memoirs of Sister Jesme in Malayalam, Story of a Catholic Church Nun facing sexual abuse in convents

Sister Jesme could be another avatar of Taslima Nasreen. This time in India – a former nun Sister Jesme from Kerala has written a revealing autobiography exposing sexual abuse in Catholic . The book released two days ago is selling like hotcakes.

“I wanted an outlet for my experiences of my trauma…Society has every right to know what is happening to Sisters,”  - Sister Jesme author of autobigraphical Malayalam memoirs – Amen

Titled “Amen” (which means “so be it” and is said by Christians at the end of every prayer), ‘Sister’ Jesme alleged that harassment, sexual repression, exploitation of nuns by priests and clandestine same sex relations take place behind the closed doors of convents.

The Catholic  by now is silent on the book and is yet to make its official response.

Who is Sister Jesme 
Sister Jesme is a 52-year-old writer and former nun. An English professor and later the principal of a -run college in Thrissur, Jesme quit the convent last year after what she said were years of ’sufferings and struggles.’ Having spent 30 years of her life in darl corners of convents – Jesme decided to expose the happenings in such places.
